Hannah Montana Star Flees The Mouse For Broadway

codywenn2626211.jpg

This is one way to be taken seriously as an actor. Of course, not gallivanting around like an asshole is another way.

Disney Channel cutie Cody Linley has just signed on to star in the new Broadway show Over Here!. The musical isn't slated to open until next year, but Cody was forced to chose between the production and a new Disney Channel movie called Starstruck.

He choose the Great White Way.

His rep explained: "The start dates on both kept shifting and Over Here! was contractually in first position, so he had to give up Starstruck."

Hope you are okay with that burnt bridge, Cody. Once you turn your back on the Mouse, you can't go back!

Advice you should also take heed to, Miley Cyrus!

Though we still have a wait until the movie hits theaters, Tim Burton, Disney, and Co. have really been trying to give a decent glimpse of what is to come in their new version of Alice in Wonderland.

We've seen most of the characters in previous ads and promos, but today, a special full length poster was released featuring Johnny Depp and one character yet to be seen.

It's the Caterpillar, played by Alan Rickman!

Oh the wonders of CGI.

What do U think?

Selena Is Not A Twilight Fan Either!

wenn26575112.jpg

Is it a Disney thing?

First it was Miley Cyrus who spoke out about her jealousy dislike for the Twilight flicks, stating she's not a fan and doesn't like vampires or werewolves.

You know, cuz vampires and wolves are so far fetched from fairies right Miley? You know about fairies, right? Like the fairy movie you signed up to do this past summer based on the novel Wings.

Just sayin'.

But now it's cutie Selena Gomez who's bashing the Twilight franchise.

During an interview on Bonnie Hunt's show, Selena admits, “I don’t watch them. Sorry, I feel bad … even though I am a teenager.”

This couldn't have something to do with the fact that her ex-boyfriend, Taylor Lautner, is in the flick, could it?

We're guessing not, since when asked if she was Team Edward or Team Jacob, she chose Jacob.

Oh, and in case you didn't know, Selena stars on the hit Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place. You know, the one about witches which guest stars some vampires.

But either way, what is it with the Disney stars hating on Twilight?

And giving her signature bitchface to boot!

Hollywood bad girl Shannen Doherty was on-hand to launch the Disneyland Magic Christmas Season at Disneyland Paris this weekend, looking decidedly underwhelmed.

But the actress did seem to perk up when Santa Claus appeared!

Please, girl. You must be perpetually on the naughty list!

The Jonas Bros Will $tay On Disney

wenn2535252__opt2.jpg

Good news for the Jonas Brothers. The heads at Disney Channel have decided to keep their show, Jonas, around for another season.

The kids' cable network has ordered a full season to begin taping in February and air mid next year.

Disney's Worldwide entertainment president Gary Marsh says of the JoBros, "These guys are the superstars of their generation. We had the opportunity to extend our relationship with them, which we did."

But that's not it for the JoBros.

Disney Channel has also picked up for a second season their mini reality series, Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream.

And filming for that is already underway with a premiere set for early next year.

Interesting to note, though: Michael Curtis and Roger S.H. Schulman, the executive producers who launched Jonas, have parted ways with the show and have now been replaced with showrunner Lester Lewis and director Paul Hoen.

Creative differences?

Mickey Gets A Makeover!

popup.jpg

Although Mickey Mouse has remained untouched for decades, the Walt Disney Company will unveil a rebranding of the universally known character when he appears in the video game Epic Mickey, due out next fall.

The formerly squeaky clean mouse will showcase his darker side - a cunning, yet heroic trickster!

"There’s a distinct risk of alienating your core consumer when you tweak a sacred character, but at this point it’s a risk they have to take,” said Matt Britton, managing partner at New York brand consultant firm Mr. Youth.

Many think that the re-imaging is needed to entice younger generations.

In 2004, a group of interns dreamed up Epic Mickey, which is set in a “cartoon wasteland.” It is a place where all Disney's unrecognizable and retired creatures live. For example, the main inhabitant is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (a character that predated Mickey) along with a disemboweled, robotic Donald Duck while living in a “twisted, broken, dangerous” version of It's a Small World.

Yikes!

“I wanted him to be able to be naughty — when you’re playing as Mickey you can misbehave and even be a little selfish,” said Warren Spector, the creative director of Disney-owned game developer Junction Point. “Mickey is never going to be evil or go around killing people."

Well, he still looks pretty creepy!

Do you like the new and improved Mickey Mouse?!

Disneyland's Next Destination - Shanghai!

disney-china.jpg

After years of discussions between Disney and Chinese authorities, Disneyland Shangai is a go!

The theme park is a mayjah advance for Western media and entertainment trying to crack the Chinese market, which is very wary of foreign influence in media and pop culture.

Disney's upcoming sixth park is planned for China's Pudong district and has an estimated price tag of $3.6 billion. The company hopes the investment will fare better than its Hong Kong counterpart, which has struggled with flailing attendance and financial losses since 2005.

The residents are excited about the "improvement" to the area, but many worry about Beijing's handling of citizens that currently live in the planned park site.

"If they want to demolish this place, those who have to move will have to move. There's no choice," said a villager.

"If the country wants to develop this place, of course we have to support this," another resident said. "But the government must also treat the residents and villagers here well."

Of course, but only time will tell whether Shanghai's inhabitants will be compensated or blinded by Communist red!

Would U visit Disneyland Shanghai?!

The Gute Is Desperate For A Hit

3menbaby_e.jpg

Is this really necessary?

Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg are reuniting for another Three Men and a Baby sequel. Because the original sequel Three Men and a Little Lady went so well!

And guess what it's called? Three Men and a Bride!

Steve Guttenberg, who has practically faded into obscurity, broke the exciting news saying "Disney's developing Three Men and a Bride. That's going to be a smash. A smash hit. They're bringing everybody back for that. Nobody knows about it. I'm the first to talk about it."

You're probably the first to talk about it because you're the only one who's career needs reviving.

Why don't they just save themselves money and put it straight to DVD?
