Zachary Quinto Almost Let Father's Death Ruin His Relationships

Zachary Quinto’s father died of cancer when he was only 7-years-old!
He’s said that he’s tried really hard not to let his father’s death define him negatively.
Even though he tried, he said it still affected him in his early relationships, saying:

“I found myself in a pattern of being attracted to people who were somehow unavailable, and what I realized was that I was protecting myself because I equated the idea of connection and love with trauma and death. I had to do a lot of work on the couch to really get to a place where I was able to show up to a relationship with someone who was actually capable of being in one — and that took a lot of trial and error. And I├óΓé¼Γäóm still working on all that stuff — that will never stop. But I definitely want kids├óΓé¼┬ª I want to share.”

So even though he was suffering from the loss of his father, he at least recognized it and did something about it.
Now he’s in a happy relationship with his current partner Jonathan Groff.
Though his father is gone, he still feels the lasting effects of the life his father lead.
He said:

“He was really, really badass and confident and sexy and intelligent and sensitive and curious. For years after he died, people would go out of their way to let me know how much he meant to them. And every time I heard it I was always so grateful to him for living that life. Now that I├óΓé¼Γäóm older, I know it├óΓé¼Γäós because that├óΓé¼Γäós what matters — the things people can tell your child about you — and I realize my father gave something really special to me even though he wasn├óΓé¼Γäót here to give it to me in person.”

Excuse us, we need to go grab a tissue.
What a mature and insightful person Zachary is!
We’re glad he’s been able to find peace and happiness and wish him nothing but the best.
