LGBT Building Named After Cyndi Lauper's True Colors

So appropriate!

A building in the New York City LGBT Community Center has been named after Cyndi Lauper‘s hit song True Colors, “in recognition of her continued work with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.”

Cyndi has devoted much of her time working with members of the center’s Youth Enrichment Services program, helping to raise awareness about equality issues and help parents with LGBT children.

The True Colors Residence will be a permanent housing facility for LGBT youths, ranging in age from 18 to 24. The center will be supported by Lauper’s True Colors fund and will open in Harlem Summer 2011.

Executive director Colleen Jackson said, “Without her, the residence definitely would not be built.”

Cyndi has done so much for the LGBT community. We can’t think of a better way to honor her and her beautiful song, True Colors.
