Sounds like he may get a second chance with this new image of his!
Yankees player Alex Rodriguez used to have quite the shady reputation with steroid and stripper scandals, a messy public divorce, gallivanting with Madonna and being what some might call ungrateful for his giant contract.
Basically advertisers wanted nothing to do with him.
But A-Rod has seemingly cleaned up his act and with a World Series win under his belt he's looking much more marketable these days. His Hollywood actress girlfriend Kate Hudson seems to be helping his image, too, being billed as his good luck charm.
He just has to make wise choices as to the advertising direction he wants to go. Experts think he would be a good match for an electronics company but under no circumstances should he endorse anything having to do with "performance" lest we think he's on the 'roids again!
Richard Yaffa, cheif executive of GroupM's entertainment, sports and cause partnerships says of A-Rod:
"His stock has improved in New York. This next period of time will determine if he has national potential."
In a new interview, Pussycat Dolls creator Robin Antin sharpened her claws saying that the girls are all basically replaceable.
And there will be new music from PCD!
Says Antin:
"The truth is I have had a lot of different girls in the Pussycat Dolls over the years which many people did not know before the band. I had many reincarnations of the PCD so if a couple of girls want to go out and do something else it is easy for me to find other girls. My trademark motto is behind every woman is a Pussycat Doll; there are many girls that I can bring in. I know that I will make it great, sexy and make everyone feel like a Pussycat Doll. That is the beauty of what I have, a brand that is bigger than all of us."
Robin also revealed that we may be seeing the PCD on Broadway! Not gonna lie, we sort of like that idea in a kitschy, campy kinda way:
"I have the idea with the Pussycat Dolls story. The real story which is my story, I started PSC in a garage and worked my way up. It is a good, wild, crazy story but my dream is to do it in a way that Jersey Boys was able to do it. Tell the real story with the huge hits and use all the music to fill the whole show. It is going past dreaming about it now, I believe in it."
As for other celebrities she'd like to see as a guest Pussycat Doll, Antin says:
"I would definitely love to have Beyonce. She is someone that I look and I say, 'she is the ultimate.' I've had Gwen Stefani, Scarlett Johansson and some many beautiful, incredible women, what more can I get? I have always wanted Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna of course, these are woman that get it, they get me and even Madonna would be great."
You probably saw Lady GaGa's special skit with Madonna on Saturday Night Live, but you didn't see the this!
Check out the original version of the skit - complete with a song! - that the Queen and Princess of Pop performed at the dress rehearsal, which never aired.
Madonna is in Malawi this week, overseeing the construction of her new girl's academy. While in the area, she visited the same orphanage she adopted her young son, David, from. The visit turned out to be a very emotional and rewarding experience.
No, she did not adopt another child.
While the whole family was visiting the orphanage, Madonna and David had the opportunity to see his original crib from when he lived in the confines of the the Home Child Care Center in Mchinji, Malawi. The center's director, Lucy Chipeta, explains:
"It was an emotional moment. David is too young to understand . . . but for us who remember the sickly tiny little baby of 2006, it was hard to hold back tears, including Madonna."
Awwwww!
Later, Madonna and her fam visited with some of the other children at the center and it became clear that her efforts with the Raising Malawi charity, which helps fund the center and five others, were not lost on the young ones living there. One child even approached Madge to say: "You are our god. Where could we have been without you?"
The groundbreaking ceremony for Her Madgesty's Raising Malawi Academy for Girls is happening this week, and Madge herself wants YOU to help out!
M has written an open letter and recorded the above video, asking for your donations to the Raising Malawi organization - all of which Madge will match dollar-for-dollar!
This week, my family and I are in Malawi to attend the ground breaking ceremony for Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.
I am making a straightforward request.
I'm writing to urge you to join me in saving the lives of some of the world's most vulnerable children. And I'm asking you to do it right away.
Raising Malawi, the organization I co-founded in 2006, is dedicated to ending the poverty and hardship endured by Malawi's one million orphans. By donating to Raising Malawi, you can literally transform the future for an entire generation. To encourage your involvement, I've pledged $100,000 to match your contributions dollar-for-dollar.
Why Malawi?
Seven years ago I might have asked myself this very same question. Why not Afghanistan, or India? There are impoverished children, desperate for health care and education, everywhere in the world. Something about Malawi's children connected with me and their hardships were too much for me to ignore. So I started learning more about Malawi, and, little by little, I began working with Malawians to improve their communities.
Visiting Malawi can be a very humbling experience. In the face of such overwhelming challenges, it's easy to feel helpless. At the same time, it is impossible not to recognize how much we can do to improve the lives of vulnerable children. Right now, I am particularly concerned about Malawian girls whose lives are made even more difficult simply because of their gender.
In 2008 Raising Malawi announced the creation of an all-girls boarding school, the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls. Architects have drawn up plans. We've identified a plot of land. And some of Malawi's poorest girls are eager for the opportunities that a comprehensive secondary education will bring them. But we're still in need of additional funds to complete this project, and there's no time to lose.
My own daughters will each have a solid secondary education. They have a family that assures them that they can be anything they want to be, that they are not limited in any way. I believe that the same should be true for girls in every part of the world, regardless of the circumstances of their birth. The girls of Malawi are bright and resourceful. They are eager to learn and grow. When I look at my girls and see them thriving, it is my greatest wish that the girls in Malawi will have the same chance for happiness.
This is where you come in.
Please join me in supporting the work of Raising Malawi. Every dollar we collect will make a huge difference in a child's life. By matching your donation, dollar for dollar, I will personally ensure that your contribution has an even greater impact. That's a promise.
This is my call to you: Give an opportunity to a child who would otherwise have none. Support the work of Raising Malawi.
While in studio with Elvis Duran and crew on Z100 on Tuesday morning, Gagaloo spilled about working with Madonna, Beyowulf, the Kanye tour and her all-around fab existence.
Here are some HIGHlights:
On working with Beyonce:
“When we were doing the video, I said I want to do you. I wanna do my version of Beyonce. I called myself GEYonce.”
On Madonna:
“She’s really great. I guess I could say we’re friends. We got along famously. I love her daughter Lourdes. We helped write the skit (for SNL) with the writers.”
On her tour:
“It’s a completely out of this world experience.”
On the cancelled Kanye tour:
“I think it was a lot of things. It wasn’t the right time. He’s been very supportive. He was really great”
On her cooking skills:
“I’m really good at Italian. Great meatballs. Pasta.”
On defending gay rights:
"I know what Im talking about. All my friends are gay. It’s NEVER wrong to love”
On slowing down to find out who she is:
“I KNOW who I am. I am a really passionate woman. I love making music”
On Yoko Ono calling after a performance of Imagine:
“That could be the most exciting thing that’s ever happened. She’s my idol”
Well, that explains his taste for the menopausal variety!
Madonna's boy toy, Jesus Luz got a very affectionate visit from his proud mother, Cristiane Regina da Silva, while deejaying at a club in Rio this past weekend.
And it turns out that Madge is 14-years older than the boy's momma!
Kinda creepy!
If he and Madge get married, the mother-in-law will be younger than the wife!
